CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. -- An internal investigation by the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office led to the termination of six employees.

On Tuesday Caldwell County Sheriff Alan Jones announced that four Sheriff's Office personnel and two employees with communications resigned following the investigation.

Sheriff Jones says the investigation is a confidential personnel matter, and would not elaborate on the circumstances that prompted the inquiry into the employees.

"We will regret the loss of these officers, but it will not affect services to the citizens of Caldwell County, Sheriff Jones reassured.

Due to the recent vacancies, there's been a bit of reorganization at the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office; Sergeant William J. Fore has been promoted to Captain, the division commander of patrol.

Sheriff Jones says Fore's 20 years of experience in law enforcement will make him a great addition to the command staff.
