CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD's Arson Unit arrested a Charlotte woman on Monday in connection with an early-morning house fire.
Around 1:30 Monday morning, the Charlotte Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 3600 block of Kiley Lane. CMPD was called to the scene shortly thereafter.
A witness awoke and saw her neighbor's home on fire and ran to awake the residents. That's when she saw a suspicious person outside the home, someone she knew, she told officers.
A detailed description of the suspect was given to authorities, and investigators found the woman, 33-year-old Miguelina Rosaldo-Garcia, at her home.
After conducting an investigation, the CMPD Arson Unit obtained warrants for Rosaldo-Garcia's arrest.
She's charged with first degree arson and malicious damage by use of an incendiary.
She remains in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
The fire was extinguished quickly with minimal damage, officials say. CFD and CMPD credit the fast-acting witness with the fact there were no injuries.
