CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Strong storms are expected to move through the Charlotte region Tuesday afternoon, bringing the threat of damaging wind and hail.
Temperatures reached the mid 90s in the early afternoon hours Tuesday, but late afternoon storms could bring damaging winds and small hail along with heavy rain, according to the First Warn Storm Team.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Avery, Caldwell and Burke counties until 8 p.m. Ashe County is under a Flash Flood Watch until 11 p.m.
The chance of storms and rain is at 50 percent for the Charlotte region today.
