Residents displaced in wake of S. Charlotte house fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Fire Department responded to a house fire in a neighborhood near the Carolina Place Mall.

Crews were called to the home in the 11,000 block of Tradewinds Lane, near Pineville-Matthews Road, right at noon on Monday.

Twenty-seven firemen fought the blaze, and brought it under control in 17 minutes, according to officials.

Medic responded to the scene, however, there were no injuries. The residents of the home, three adults and one 3-year-old, are displaced as a result of the fire.

The Red Cross is providing shelter to the displaced residents and is prepared to provide other assistance as needed.

In the initial reports from the Charlotte Fire Department, the home was reported as being located in the 1100 block of of Kingfisher Drive; CFD since corrected that information to reflect the correct address.
