CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte school employee has been fired after accusations that he raped a 12-year-old girl inside the school earlier this year.
Sugar Creek Charter School in-school suspension coordinator James Taylor, 38, was arrested on Tuesday. Investigators say the incident happened at the school located at 4101 North Tryon Street sometime over the last month.
Taylor was fired on Tuesday, the school said, and faces seven felony charges.
For the last three to four years Taylor served as the ISS coordinator and before that worked as a tutor and teacher's assistant beginning in 2001.
He is charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a student, two counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of child rape.
Taylor is due in court on Monday for his first appearance. He was placed behind bars on a $370,000 bond.
The school told NBC Charlotte they are cooperating with police and have communicated the allegations to parents.
