CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Eastbound lanes of traffic on Albemarle Road were brought to a halt while crews transported injured patients and worked to clear the scene from the roadway.

Emergency first responders were on the scene of a traffic accident involving multiple vehicles in the 13,500 block of Albemarle Road, near the intersection of Cabarrus.

The scene was near Clear Creek Elementary.

MEDIC tells NBC Charlotte three people are injured, one of which has injuries described as life threatening. That patient is being transported to CMC Main.

Two other patients with non-life threatening injuries are being taken to Novant Health Matthews Medical Center.
