CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The major winter storm pounding the Midwest is also affecting Charlotte.
Several flights to destination like Chicago and Kansas City were canceled Friday, others were delayed by as much as three hours.
Airline recommend checking your flight status before you leave for the airport. Some airlines are allowing passengers to rebook for frees.
Mina Chakoor was curled up on a chair, staring at a weather map on her iPad. She was trying to get to Des Moines, Iowa and was not optimistic.
"Probably will get a hotel if I don't make it, or get on another aircraft and go to New York," she said.
Chicago is where John Ronn was trying to go, but not making much progress. The windy city had six inches of snow on the ground just after 6 p.m. Thursday.
"Pretty much I stay here until I can get the next flight that actually does make it to Chicago," said Ronn.
Some airlines are changing their policies to make it easier for passengers to re-book their flights.
The best advice is still to call your airline before heading to the airport.
