WAXHAW, N.C. -- More peace and quiet for folks in Waxhaw. Sandblasting crews made for a loud few weeks.
Crews were sandblasting the town's iconic 1940 water tower. The town is spending $266,000 to restore it.
The water tower was was rusting, and became an eyesore.
Now, neighbors are relieved.
Crews will spend the next week or so painting it. The look and logo will remain the same.
The water tower is a town landmark and popular location for photographers.
When the refurbished tower will be officially unveiled hasn't been determined.
