CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Cell phone video taken outside a Sheraton ballroom in uptown Charlotte following CIAA events shows a chaotic scene, after someone fired gunshots during a party that was supposed to feature rappers Diddy, Future, and Fabulous.

The video, put on YouTube by Kingsinmotion.com, shows people running into the hallway from the ballroom, with a few even getting stuck and pushed down as they tried to squeeze through a doorway.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said gunshots hit two people.

MEDIC transported one person to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries from a gun shot to the leg.  MEDIC treated another person at the scene for a minor leg injury from the second shot.

MEDIC said it transported another four people to the hospital for scrapes and bruises caused by people rushing from the ballroom.

A witness, who asked not to be identified, told NBC Charlotte that he saw some fighting in the VIP section a few minutes before the shooting.

The witness said the fighting had quieted somewhat, and then someone threw a bucket of ice into the VIP area.  That's when the shots were fired.

The event was not sanctioned by the CIAA, but sponsored by AG Entertainment and Sherod Promotions.  Neither answered requests for a comment.

A manager at the Sheraton Sunday said the hotel wouldn't release a statement until its general manager returned to work Monday.

An after-action report released by the city of Charlotte Sunday showed the CIAA tournament was a relatively quiet event.  Police arrested a dozen people over the three-day event for drug, alcohol, or traffic-related offenses.

CMPD also reported two assaults. A fight earlier Saturday night resulting in a stabbing with minor injuries.

MEDIC transported five people to hospitals with minor injuries after they were struck by cars in uptown.

CMPD asks anyone with information about the shooting at the Sheraton call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 704-334-1600.
