CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A TSA agent working New Year's Day is accused of stealing money from a suitcase of a passenger passing through Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
TSA officials confirm Reggie Dewain Edwards, 52, of Concord, was fired from his job in connection with the allegation.
Officials say Edwards stole $36 in cash from the suitcase. He's charged with misdemeanor larceny under $50.
In a statement released to NBC Charlotte authorities assure that "TSA does not tolerate theft and moved immediately to terminate this individual."
They continued by saying the number of TSA officers fired represents less than one-half of one percent of officers that have been employed.
