TEGA CAY, S.C. -- A boil water advisory is in effect for Tega Cay residents following a major water main break Tuesday.

A 12-inch line broke near Tega Cay Drive and Heron Run Drive around 1 p.m.

Utilities Inc. said their crews responded quickly to the scene and were able to repair the water main around 9 p.m.  The boil water notice will remain in place until Thursday but residents can shower and bathe using the water.

The cause of the leak has not yet been determined.

Tega Cay is no stranger to water problems.  The area has dealt with nearly 30 sewage spills since the first of the year.
