ROCK HILL, N.C. -- Winthrop University is considering a campus-wide smoking ban.
Right now there are about 15 designated smoking areas on the Rock Hill campus, and each has ash trays.
The problem is students often smoke in non-designated areas while walking around campus. People caught smoking in non-designated areas aren't cited by campus police.
Fines or an appearance before the student judicial court are two options being considered if people break the no-smoking ban. It could be a year before a decision is made.
