BURKE, COUNTY, N.C. – Amie Jo Skeens was found guilty of two counts of murder in her 2011 DWI hit and run case.
Troopers say Skeens blew a .10 and was under the influence of other substances last October. Skeens hit a father and son while they were on their motorcycle. Authorities say she left the accident and tried to elude police.
Stephen Moody and his son Kevin Moody were pronounced dead on the scene.
Officials were able to track down Skeens after a witness followed her from the accident site.
Monday, a jury found her guilty of two counts of second degree murder, two counts of felony death by motor vehicle and DWI.
She was sentenced to at least 28 years in prison.
