CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Showtime’s newest hit was shot right here in Charlotte, and this Sunday ‘Homeland’ is up for several Golden Globes.
NewsChannel 36 caught up with one woman who won't be getting any awards for her work but does have some great insight into what went down during the shoot.
Like much of the country, Amy Aussieker was glued to her TV every Sunday night this fall, watching Showtime’s new hit.
“It was incredibly cool to see how they do everything,” she said.
On most days, Aussieker runs a coffee shop, but she recently had to do a whole different kind of running, playing a secret service agent tracking actress Claire Danes.
“I aerated the lawn with my heels because I had to run over and over again chasing her.”
The series was shot entirely in the Charlotte area and some pretty major scenes in the finale were shot at the Mecklenburg County courthouse on a weekend in October.
“At times it was extremely boring. We had to be there at 5:45 in the morning, got done at 7:30 at night. It was a long day but it was cool, really interesting watching the logistics,” Aussieker added.
As for those two 14-hour days?
“They did one scene that was a close-up of me and a security guy, but it didn't make it.”
“If you weren’t looking for me you wouldn’t see me,” she noted.
Aussieker is hoping to be back when the show is shooting the second season here in Charlotte this spring.
