If you ever wonder where that money goes, part of it goes to repairs. Linda Warner, an Indian Trail resident, saw her fees put to work over the summer. “I had gotten to the point that I would worry if we got a bad storm whether or not I could get out in the morning to get to work,” Warner said. During a heavy rain, the road in front of Warner’s home would flood. “My worst worry was that the road was caving in and we could only get in and out with one car. I was worried about the weight of the garbage truck and fire trucks what would happen," Warner said. More than 10 years of dealing with this issue, Warner got help from the storm water services department in Indian Trail. The pipes under the road began to rust so crews installed two new pipes in front of Warner’s road. “I am very thankful to the town of Indian Trail and the storm water services. This is just like a blessing from heaven,” Warner said. Storm water fees in most cities and towns go to emergency repairs like Warner’s. It also goes to maintenance and education on water quality.
