FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- A marathon running mom from Salisbury is setting her sights high as she prepares to set a world record this weekend.
Suzy Goodwin, who grew up in Salisbury, has already finished 42 marathons in 42 different states, but during the next race on her list she won't be alone.
She has not one, not two, but three 1-year-old babies-- her triplets Charlotte, Gideon and Gabe.
"When there's two babies you have two arms, but when there's three and they're mobile?" Goodwin said, "it gets a little crazy."
Goodwin buckles them up in a triple stroller then takes them with her when she goes for a run.
"And I talk to them when we're running," Goodwin said.
But this Sunday, these three won't just be going around the neighborhood. Goodwin's running the North Carolina Halloween Half Marathon in Fayetteville where her family now lives. She's doing it with the triple stroller, which would be a new Guinness World Record.
"I started the application process back in May," Goodwin said. "It's a lot of red tape when you want to set instead of break a record."
Goodwin weighs 115 pounds. The stroller and triplets weigh almost the same.
"Pushing it up the hill is definitely a challenge," Goodwin said.
But Goodwin says the bigger challenge will be taking care of the kids, who at this age need her full attention. She's going to pack toys and snacks and items for when nature calls.
"I'm prepared to change a diaper on the course if I need to," Goodwin said.
The East Rowan High School alum says along with setting a record through her run, she's fundraising for the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, which helped her family when the triplets were born premature.
"It's just the biggest way that I know how to say thank you," Goodwin said. "So it means everything."
Sunday morning, they'll all get that opportunity.
Goodwin already ran a 5K with the triple stroller and triplets-- and she won first place in the female runners category.
