CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say a repeat offender who had a habit of not showing up at court was caught Friday.
Dyrone Thompson was found hiding at his parents' house in the Hickory Grove area.
"Doesn't show up for court, doesn't comply with what he's supposed to do," said Sgt. Steve Winterhalter with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.
His arrest history shows he keeps getting arrested, charged with felonies, and bonds out and then doesn't bother to show up to face a judge.
"Law enforcement has to repeatedly find him and bring him back into the system," said Winterhalter.
Thompson has been on probation and violated it a number of times.
"If we get him back before a judge, hopefully they can hit him with as harsh a penalty as they can since he hasn't been compliant," said Winterhalter.
This time around he's again wanted for carrying a gun and violating his probation. Thompson's a convicted felon, so that's illegal.
His arrest history shows breaking and entering, selling drugs and an assault.
"Long-term you'd like to think we won't have to find him again. But if he doesn't change his behavior its likely we will," said Winterhalter.
Thompson is 5-feet-10, 160 pounds and he has a tattoo on his neck. Police believe he may be in the Concord or Idlewild Road areas.
