CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man wanted for beating up and robbing a disabled victim has been arrested.
A tip led police to Tawaan Batten and he is now in police custody.
Detectives say three men, including Batten, forced their way into the home of a mentally challenged man. It happened in May at an apartment on Hazlenut Circle.
Police say the three suspects pistol-whipped and then robbed the man. So far, investigators have only been able to identify Batten.
"It really goes to show sometimes people are just desperate or just a bad seed and willing to do anything to take something from somebody else," Sgt. Steve Winterhalter said.
