Update: Anthony Pettiford and Raynard Humphrey were arrested on June 23, 2010, in Buffalo, N.Y.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say two brothers are terrorizing the Queen City.
In two weeks, police say the brothers have been involved in a shooting and robberies at two area pawn shops.
"One second I'm pawning something, the next second somebody's robbing the place," said Jesse Hyde.
Hyde says he just needed some extra cash.
"I was inside less than two minutes," he says from the comfort of his front porch, surrounded by his two young children.
He was at the Pawn Mart on South Tryon last week when he says he looked up and saw a man behind the counter who didn't belong. It was someone else who police say needed some extra cash: Raynard Humphrey.
"He grabbed one guy by the shoulder, forced him to the ground. By that time I noticed a gun and laid down myself. He forced everyone on the ground," Hyde said.
Police say he had a worker empty the safe.
"The whole time laying face down, I just thought he's going to come up and shoot me -- shoot everybody in this place," said Hyde.
Detectives are convinced this was the second pawn shop these wanted brothers hit in less than two weeks.
Anthony Pettiford is the second suspect. Both have recently lived at home with their mother, who police say is not cooperating in helping to find them. Investigators are worried, because they say the crimes they've committed in recent days are all violent and could escalate.
"It was 4 o'clock in the afternoon, and it was a pretty bold takeover style robbery," said Sgt. Steve Winterhalter with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team.
And Winterhalter says Humphrey has been on a streak -- and not a good one.
Police believe he shot into a car on June 1 and then committed the first pawn shop robbery just two days later. He was arrested June 7 for the shooting. He bonded out of jail and police believe just days later committed the second hold-up.
Police believe the only thing that slowed down his brother, Anthony Pettiford, was a broken leg from a motorcycle accident. That's why they suspect he's walking around with a cast.
Raynard Humphrey is 28 years old, about 6-feet tall and weighs 160 pounds. He may be in the Southside Homes area. His brother may also be hiding there.
Anthony Pettiford is 22 years old, 5-feet-7 and weighs 130 pounds. Anyone with any information is asked to call VCAT at 704-336-8228.
