Goons, goblins, Cam Newton crash Concord boy's party

Neighbors in Concord gathered to give a local child battling cancer an early Halloween treat on Friday, and Cam Newton crashed the party to surprise Elijah.

CONCORD, N.C. -- A Concord community is rallying behind a 10-year-old boy who is battling a rare form of cancer.

His favorite holiday is Halloween. It was a star-studded event Friday night, but none bigger than Elijah himself.

The goons and goblins were out early on Sutro Forest Drive.

More than a hundred kids in costumes celebrated Elijah's favorite holiday, Halloween.

And there was a surprise guest! Panthers' star quarterback, Cam Newton, made an appearance. He heard about Elijah's story and decided to crash the street party.

"As a mom it absolutely melts your heart," said Becky Hughes, Elijah's mom. "It brings tears to my eyes."

Elijah is battling a rare form of cancer. Doctors don't know if he'll make it to October 31.

"This has been the hardest battle our family has ever had to go through," she said.

Dressed as the joker, Elijah and his friend banned together to celebrate.

House by house, Elijah enjoyed his favorite holiday, inspiring family and friends along the way.

"It took us an hour to do his make up and he just warms my heart."
