CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolinas CARE Partnership is offering free, confidential HIV testing in honor of World AIDS Day at various locations throughout the region.
·Friday, November 30 from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the Carolinas CARE Partnership Office (7510 East Independence Blvd., Suite 105, Charlotte, NC 28227)
·Saturday, December 1 from 10 a.m. - noon at New Life Fellowship, 1337 Samuel Street, Charlotte, NC 28206
·Saturday, December 1 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Siskey YMCA, 3127 Weddington Rd., Matthews, NC 28105 (in conjunction with Wingate University)
·Saturday, December 1 from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Rock Worship Center, 1113 Fordham Road, Charlotte, NC 28208
·Saturday, December 1 from 9 a.m. - noon at Carolinas CARE Partnership 7510 East Independence Blvd. Suite 105, Charlotte, NC 28227. CCP's Spanish-speaking counselor will be available at this testing event.
Carolinas CARE Partnership, formerly the Regional HIV/AIDS Consortium, provides HIV Testing, Prevention and Housing services for individuals at risk for and living with HIV and AIDS.
CCP has been serving the Charlotte region since its inception in 1990, and serves over 2800 individuals annually.
Mecklenburg County has the most cases of HIV of any county in the state of North Carolina, and one of the highest rates of HIV as well. In 2011, 339 people were diagnosed with HIV - almost one person each day.
