CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- If you plan on going out for a drink on New Year's Eve, make sure you have a designated driver.

This year, AAA of the Carolinas is putting the brakes on a program offering a free tow for drivers who've had too much alcohol.

The group says people abused the Tow To Go program last year.  It was meant to be a backup plan, but AAA says people headed out planning to use it.
