CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It's a troubling survey.

Seven out of 10 moms say they are stressed out by their kids' sports.

Matthews mom Natalie Pritchard can relate.  Tyler Pritchard and older brother Derek love sports, all of them.  But their mom says at times their sports were too stressful.

The boys are only seven and nine.

"It’s becoming really competitive just at recess kids are left out of things or not given chances to throw or catch,” said Pritchard.

Pritchard became tired of driving from work to practices and eating dinner on the road in between games.  She’s one of hundreds of moms choosing an alternative to overly competitive leagues and lots of travel.

Pritchard decided to try i9 Sports for her two young sons, and she says it’ been successful.

“I’m not having to make my kids hurry up and finish their homework which we had to do before which we really getting stressful,” she said.

I-9 Sports is a franchise youth sports league dedicated to keeping sports fun, it’s Charlotte area program director says.

“There’s always competition, but it’s the way in which we direct that competition,” said Program Director Scott Parkin.

“We try to put the sportsmanship value in it.  We try to put fun first, making sure kids are the most important thing.  We’ve lost sight of that in a lot of programs,” he said.
