MINT HILL, N.C. – A new branch of the Presbyterian Healthcare System will be opening two years earlier than planned in Mint Hill.

Presbyterian Healthcare plans to complete construction on the Mint Hill full-service hospital in 2016. Presbyterian previously planned to develop the hospital using a phased-in approach, adding services over time.

“We considered the needs of the community and area growth and decided to revise out plans and bring all services on line by 2016,” said Roland Bibeau, President and CEO of Presbyterian Hospital, in a statement.

The new 165,000 square foot hospital will include 50 inpatient beds, a 16-bay emergency department, four operating rooms, maternity, rehabilitation, cardiovascular and laboratory services and a pharmacy.

It will cost approximately $90 million. The hospital will sit at the intersection of Albermarle Road and Interstate 485.

Under the construction plans, a medical office building will be built along with the hospital for physician practices and other medical services.

“We know our neighbors will be pleased with their new hospital; not only by the services offered but by the remarkable care that will be provided as well,” said Bibeau.

A name for the new branch has not been determined.
