INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - John Andretti revealed to Dave Calabro this week that he is fighting stage 4 colon cancer.
We didn't want this to just be another story, but to use his experience to spur others to get checked.
Most cases of colon cancer begin as small, noncancerous (benign) clumps of cells, according to the Mayo Clinic. Over time some of these clumps, or polyps, become colon cancers.
Polyps may be small and produce few, if any, symptoms. Because of that, doctors recommend regular screening tests to help prevent colon cancer by identifying and removing polyps before they become colon cancer.
