Free dental clinic held in Rock Hill

Hundreds to be served at free dental clinic

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- A massive clinic with dentists and hygienists from all over the state have gathered in Rock Hill to help those in desperate need of dental care.

People lined up late Thursday night into early Friday morning for one reason: free dental care, which they can't otherwise afford.

Nearly 200 dentists and 100 other hygienists came from all over South Carolina to take part in the two-day clinic at Rock Hill Baptist Church on Hood Center Drive, expecting to see patients who haven't seen a dentist in quite a while.

Patients are sent through a triage where a dentist determines what needs to be and can be done, for example, pulling teeth, fillings, crowns, even partial front teeth replacements.

The clinic runs again from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. About 1,500 patients are expected.
