Panthers GM speaks on Oher's controversial post

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers General Manager Dave Gettleman weighed in after a Panthers offensive lineman's Instagram post made waves on social media.

Oher was in the middle of social media controversy after he posted, then deleted a post on Instagram of what appears to be numerous bottles of medications.

The post's caption read, “All for the brain SMH.”

Gettleman told Panthers.com that he does not know if offensive tackle Michael Oher posted the photo or not, but he said he is more worried about Oher's well-being off-the-field.

"Regardless, my primary interest is Michael's health," Gettleman said, according to the team's website.

Gettleman said he flew to Nashville to visit Oher because the general manager had not spoken to Oher since early March.

"Our No. 1 priority is a healthy Michael Oher. This is not about football, this is about Michael," Gettleman said, according to the Panthers' website.

Oher's post brought forth the controversial topic of concussions in the NFL. He missed all but three games last year because of lingering concussion symptoms.
