CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Some of the neighbors in the Cady Lake subdivision of south Charlotte emailed NBC Charlotte saying they were concerned the city was taking too long to fix a growing water leak in the middle of their street. Tuesday, I reached out to the city which took immediate action.
The photos neighbors sent us show water bubbling up from the pavement. The ground was beginning to crack and they worried whatever was causing the leak might cause a sinkhole if left unrepaired.
Jordan walks by here a lot and says he saw the water leak continuing to grow. “Yeah, the water was flowing down this way,” Jordan said.
The NBC Charlotte I-Team emailed the City of Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon, echoing neighbors concerns. By early evening, work crews were out digging up the pavement and repaired what was a broken pipe on Knight Castle Drive. Today the street is patched, and even some of the grass reseeded.
Bill Donovan lives nearby and says, “It was starting to get pretty serious. We’re glad they came out. Yeah, they did a god job.”
