News reports often treat fatigue-related truck wrecks as isolated accidents relegated to traffic reports. Television networks spent more time covering air traffic controllers asleep on the job in the course of three weeks than the networks have devoted to the issue of sleep apnea in over 30 years.
But such fatal fatigue-related crashes are neither isolated nor accidental. They are connected, have elements in common and can be prevented.
