Teen shot, killed in east Charlotte

A man was shot and killed in what marks the 26th homicide in Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a teenager was shot and killed in east Charlotte.

CMPD says the investigation is being conducted in the 3500 block of Spanish Quarter Circle. When officers arrived following a call for service, they found 19-year-old Kevin Marquez with an apparent gunshot wound. Marquez was pronounced dead at the scene, CMPD says.

Marquez's death marks the 26th homicide to take place in Charlotte this year.
