CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- She set her goal at $1,000, but with the help of her church and the community, a young Charlotte girl surpassed that goal nearly 10 times over.
On Friday, 10-year-old Cathryn Clark presented a check for more than $4,000 to the Charlotte Emergency Housing organization.
But before the ink was even dry on that one, others stepped forward to bring the total to nearly $10,000.
Cathryn says she wanted to do something for the homeless and did some research before picking the organization.
"I think it will help by getting a little bit of money towards the food pantry for the families in the kitchen and also for the rooms -- to have a lot of extra things in the room," Cathryn said.
Cathryn's family also donated more than 100 books and clothes for the shelter.
If you'd like to help, you can make donations to the Charlotte Emergency Housing organization in Cathryn's name.
