ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. – Approximately $1.44 million in cash was seized during a drug investigation in eastern Rowan County.
Rowan County Sheriff’s Office investigators searched a home in High Rock Lake with the assistance of nearly 10 other police and law enforcement departments—including the Department of Homeland Security—and located the cash on January 2.
In all, $1,439,476.28 was seized as well as four guns, two sets of body armor, ammunition and two vehicles.
“The money was believed to be proceeds of large scale narcotics trafficking. Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, no one was arrested, but the investigation continues,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The cash was taken to a Charlotte bank and will be forfeited to the government.
