CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two people were burned in a west Charlotte house fire Friday morning, officials said.
According to Charlotte Fire, emergency crews responded to a reported fire in the 1100 block of Fern Avenue around 7:30 a.m.
Fire officials say that two people were rescued from the home and were treated for burns. According to Medic, one of the victims experienced potentially life-threatening injuries and the other suffered serious burns. Both people were taken to CMC.
Personnel on the scene told NBC Charlotte's Hannah Welker that two men inside the home jumped from a window to escape the flames. Fire officials say the fire started in the kitchen and that at least one smoke detector inside the home was not operating at the time of the fire.
Firefighters also rescued a dog from the home, which was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.
