CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One woman died and another man is in the hospital after a tractor-trailer flipped over a guardrail on Interstate 485 in north Charlotte early Wednesday morning.

The single vehicle accident happened around 12:15 a.m. on the I-485 ramp to Interstate 77 north near Huntersville.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the tractor-trailer was traveling on the I-485 inner loop going toward N.C. Highway 115 when the load of paper rolls in the trailer shifted and the driver lost control of the truck.

The driver, James Keech, and Jennifer Fenwick were rescued from the truck and airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, according to emergency crews.

Fenwick, 36, of Ontario, Canada died a few hours later, while Keech remains in the hospital and is listed in good condition.

Fenwick was in the sleeper section of the tractor-trailer at the time of the accident, officials said.

Troopers opened all lanes on the interstate for the morning commute, but commuters saw delays in the area as crews repaired the guardrail.
