CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two school buses were involved in a multi-vehicle accident in east Charlotte on Tuesday, and four people are hurt.

The wreck took place in the 4300 block of East W.T. Harris Boulevard near The Plaza shortly before 3 p.m.

A third vehicle collided with the two school buses during the wreck.  Medic and Charlotte Fire Department officials are responding to the scene.

One bus involved was number 806 from North Ridge Middle School while the second was bus number 2000 coming from Butler High School.  Seven students were on board the bus coming from Butler, while no passengers were on bus 806.

Officials with Medic say a total of four patients with non-life threatening injuries have been transported to CMC University.  One student, both bus drivers and the driver of a third vehicle involved were all hurt, officials said.

"It's real scary because there were too many kids...too many responsibilities on that bus," said witness Leann Cottrell.

Inbound E. WT Harris at the Plaza was shut down for about an hour, officials said.
