WAXHAW, N.C. -- If there were some presents missing under your tree Christmas morning, you're not alone.
Two of the nation’s biggest shipping companies admit they didn't get everything delivered on time.
It was a busy Christmas morning in the Grant’s Waxhaw household. With three kids, there are new toys, gadgets and clothing in piles across the living room.
“Where did all this come from? Some came from Santa, some of it came from my mom and dad, too,” 6-year-old Ellie said.
But a few things are missing.
Mom Heidi has spent days tracking things she ordered weeks ago for her two oldest kids.
“We were waiting, waiting and waiting, I kept checking online, still not here,” she says.
The Grant's are not alone; both Fed Ex and UPS, two of the company's biggest shipping companies, admit they didn't get all their Christmas deliveries done on time.
“It’s frustrating, but they're only human; they can only work so many hours. There's the weather, snowstorms, you can't predict everything,” Heidi says, admitting she is disappointed because some of the kids biggest requests didn’t make it.
In fact the companies blame the bad weather and a whole lot of online shopping.
“I think they should have made it try to get here before Christmas or even today,” says 13-year-old Alayna.
Mom is trying to stay positive.
“It’s a little frustrating but I knew they had stuff, it wasn't going to be the end of the world. I guess the benefit... Christmas is gonna last a little bit longer.”
UPS says they are not delivering Christmas Day; they will begin deliveries again on the 26th.
Fed Ex says you might be able to pick up your package in person; they'll call you, if that's the case.
Fed Ex says they handled more than 275 million packages between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
