SALISBURY, N.C. -- A 3-year-old girl was injured when her family's van rolled over her outside a mobile home Sunday night.

The accident took place at 540 Deck Lane, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.

The victim's mother placed two children in car seats before going to the grocery store, and when she walked away from the van it rolled backwards and hit a tree near the mobile home.

The young girl was thrown out of the van and was found lying near the vehicle, officials said.

The 3-year-old suffered injuries to her arm and possibly internal injuries as well.  She was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

The Division of Social Services was called to the incident, but no charges have been filed.
