More victims possible in teen rape case
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man charged with raping two teenagers may have victimized several other girls.
NewsChannel 36 on Monday obtained search warrants that show there could be naked pictures of as many as 17 other victims. We also talked exclusively to the mother of one of the alleged victims.
"When you're a parent, looking at pictures like that is disgusting," she said. "It makes you want to throw up."
NewsChannel 36 isn't revealing the woman's identity in order to protect her daughter.
The woman said she found the photographs at the braid shop that Duncan Bynum owns in The Plaza. That's where police say Bynum raped the woman's 14-year-old daughter and her daughter's 17-year-old friend last week.
She describes the pictures as graphic and says she found them after her daughter told her Bynum forced her to pose for pictures after he raped her in his shop.
"His coworker let me look around and I found the pictures and it was really disgusting to me," she said. "It literally made me sick to see my child and all the other girls in these pictures."
She estimates she also found pictures of about 17 other young girls in compromising positions.
"Posing, sticking their middle fingers up, bent over looking at their buttocks," she said.
Search warrants show police seized the photos and other items from Bynum's shop, including cameras and drugs.
The alleged victim's mother says she hopes the twice-convicted sex offender will finally be forced to stay away from young girls.
"I hope I helped put a stop to him," she said.
