CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Enjoy the warmer temperatures today because much colder air is on the way.
Today will be sunny and seasonal with highs around 61 degrees. The high temperature in Charlotte on Sunday was 68 degrees.
The cold front arrives late Tuesday and drops high temperatures by Wednesday into the 40s.
The pattern is cold and stormy for the next 7days.
"I see three potential winter weather close calls," said Brad Panovich of the First Warn Storm Team.
Wednesday morning, there's a 40% chance of showers. It will be a lot cooler during the afternoon with highs only in the upper 40s.
"The Wednesday event looks like all rain with the arctic front," said Panovich. "The model soundings are just too warm for anything else"
The high on Thursday may not even reach 50 degrees with a morning low of 22 degrees.
There is a 40% chance of rain on Saturday with a high of 50 degrees.
"Saturday and next Monday do have a small freezing rain risk. It makes more sense that with shallow arctic air we'd see some ice potential," said Panovich. "Lots of variables but March is coming in like a lion."
