CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A multi-vehicle accident injured two people on Interstate 77 south Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened on I-77 south near Arrowood Road around 1 p.m. Thursday.
One victim was airlifted from the scene with life-threatening injuries. The second victim suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance, according to Medic.
Both victims were taken to Carolinas Medical Center -- Main.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, traffic was backed up several miles on I-77 while crews worked to clear the scene.
Police reopened all lanes on I-77 around 1:50 p.m.
