Two people were transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, and three other people were hurt, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

A maroon minivan collided with a black SUV at the intersection of Nations Ford and Hebron.

It's unclear what caused the wreck.  Charlotte Fire Department crews worked to rescued a few of the victims after they became trapped in the crash.
