CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Several members from the Charlotte Rainbow Action Network for Equality protested against Amendment One Thursday morning.

Close to a dozen people from the group were protesting on the Hawthorne Lane Bridge above Independence Boulevard, against Amendment One, which was passed last week during North Carolina's primary.

The banner could be seen by commuters making their way towards uptown. The protesters did not cause any traffic delays, according to the WCNC Traffic Department.

The protesters hung a banner over the bridge that read: 'Equality Will Prevail!' and were waving flags.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were on the scene but did not intervene on the protest.
