SALISBURY, N.C. -- This is one April fool's joke that was anything but funny.

Rowan County deputies arrested Michael Kelly, 31, because of the prank his mom pulled.

Kelly says his mom called him hysterical telling him that his 9-year-old son was missing.  He got in his car and sped over to his mom’s house at speeds up to 120 mph.  He ran a red light on this way, according to deputies.  When they tried to pull him over it led to a high speed chase up I-85.

Later Kelly found out it was all a joke and the child was never missing.

Kelly was arrested and charged with felony speeding to elude arrest, driving with a suspended license and failure to stop at a red light.
