CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are looking for leads in a case where a victim was fired upon and struck during the course of an auto theft.

In early March, police say two unknown suspects stole a car from an apartment complex in Charlotte's Independence Division.

A witness to the car theft from Forest Ridge Apartments pursued the suspects in the stolen vehicle.

While fleeing, authorities say one of the suspects fired shots at the witness, striking him in the arm and his vehicle.

The stolen car, a 2003 BMW with North Carolina tags "BHW 7098" has not yet been located.

Authorities say there was a debit card inside the stolen BMW, which was used to make two unauthorized purchases the day the car was stolen.

The surveillance photos show one of the suspects as he made purchases using the stolen debit card.

If you have any information that could assist police in this case, please call (704) 334-1600.
