CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a Honda Accord and a bicyclist.

Friday night around 9:30, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to the 6400 block of Old Pineville Road near the intersection of Archdale Drive.

Florencio Rosa was riding his bicycle across Old Pineville Road when he was struck by a Honda Accord.

Rosa, police say, was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the bike.

Rosa was taken to Carolina's Medical Center with life threatening injuries, where he later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the collision.

The driver and passenger of the Honda Accord were taken to CMC with minor injuries.

Speed was not a factor in the crash, police say.

The driver of the Accord has not been charged, however, the crash is still under investigation.
