CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Bruegger's bakery in the Park Road Shopping Center is conducting a benefit event today to help Charlotte Woods Apartments residents who were displaced by a fire Tuesday.

Managers of the bakery say 15 percent of the proceeds from all sales today will be donated to apartment residents in need. Park Road Shopping Center is at Park and Woodlawn roads, and the Bruegger's is in building 25.

The fire damaged dozens of apartment units, displacing about 100 residents. The American Red Cross also is providing assistance for those affected by the blaze.
