CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer was charged with Driving While Intoxicated on New Year’s Eve in Union County.
Officer Matthew L. Thompson is a 22-year veteran of CMPD. He was arrested on Monday in Union County, a CMPD spokesperson confirmed.
Officer Thompson had a .19 blood alcohol level--more than twice the legal limit--and was pulled over on Rocky River Road around 6:30 p.m., officials said.
Thompson has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
His license has been revoked for 30 days.
