CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer was charged with Driving While Intoxicated on New Year’s Eve in Union County.

Officer Matthew L. Thompson is a 22-year veteran of CMPD.  He was arrested on Monday in Union County, a CMPD spokesperson confirmed.
