CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C.— A Caldwell County man has been convicted of murdering two people in the summer of 2010.
Justin Ray Hester, 26, was given two consecutive life sentences without parole for murdering two people, then putting them in a car and setting the vehicle on fire in an attempt to hide the crime.
Caldwell County deputies responded to a call about the burned car on June 5, 2010 just after 2 p.m. After they arrived, they discovered the bodies of Harley Carter and another man, the father of a 4-year-old girl.
A dispute over money led to the murders, officials say. Hester then put both the bodies in Carter’s Ford Mustang and lit it on fire.
Two other men, Matthew Bradley Powell, 22, of Granite Falls and Dylan Shane Teeters, 19, of Lenoir were charged with two counts of accessory to murder after the fact.
