CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte man fishing on a Florida lake says he was attacked by a goose, and the attack was caught on camera.

Drew Gregory says he loves the quiet of the river.

"Fishing is really pretty good. Most people don't access the rivers," he said.

He loves the animals he meets as a professional fisherman.

"I saw this goose for over an hour, hung out with it. It was friendly," Gregory said.

But that quickly changed while the 30-year-old was fishing last month.

"I'd just caught this fish," Gregory said.

Then, the goose jumped on him. Gregory said he believes the goose may have been trying to get a closer look. The bird had been hanging around his kayak all afternoon.

On the video you can see the goose lunge at Gregory, and then force him out of his kayak.

You can hear Gregory react, saying, "Stupid geese!"

Gregory laughs now, remembering how he tried to reason with the bird.

"What'd I do to you?" he said in the video. And the goose seems to respond, squawking back.

"I'm trying to reason with this goose like it's got some sort of brain," Gregory said. "It's possible it really liked me. I just don't think it was really trying to attack me."

The son of two ministers, Gregory calls the experience a blessing in disguise.

"No doubt about it, this was supposed to happen in some way," he said. "God was trying to get the word out about what I'm doing."

Cameras are mounted on Gregory's kayak because he has his own Web site and wants his own fishing show on TV. Thanks to his new "friend," he just may get it. More than 160,000 people have clicked on the video on YouTube. Even Jay Leno aired the video on his show.
